A New Look

Romans 8:28-29

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

1 John 3:2

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, there were 15.9 million cosmetic procedures performed in the U.S. in 2015. The president of the ASPS said, “Patients have more options than ever … to achieve the look they desire.”1

This desire arises from societal pressures for “a new look.” One of the characteristics of life in our fallen world is being tired of the status quo—especially when it has to do with our personal lives, even our appearance. But that won’t be true in heaven because we will have a new body. Just as Jesus exchanged mortality for immortality via His resurrection, we will do the same (1 Corinthians 15:50-54). God’s purpose for His children is that they should “be conformed to the image of His Son” (Romans 8:29). There was something markedly different about Jesus after His resurrection—yet He still had flesh and bones and was able to eat (Luke 24:36-43).Jesus’ glorified body should pique our excitement about heaven. We will have a new look—one we will enjoy throughout eternity.

A point to ponder…

Grant me on earth what seems Thee best, till death and heaven reveal the rest.
