Time-Out

John 14: 15-18

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

When a team begins losing to their opponent, most coaches call for a time-out. Rather than leave their team out on the field facing discouragement and distraction, the time-out serves to remind them of their strengths and refocus them on their strategies.

During times of stress and conflict, God beckons us to take a time-out. To stop. To breathe. To pray. During chaotic seasons, draw close to God and bask in His faithfulness and affection. Our right standing and connection with Him is unaltered by anything or any being. Jesus paid the price for us to have a steadfast relationship with God. Whether the stress of a situation remains or is removed, our souls can rest in Him.

A point to ponder…

You may have no joy in your situation, but you can rejoice in your Savior. You may be encased in shadows, but you can still walk in the light as He is in the light. To rejoice in the Lord means that we rejoice in our unassailable, unchanging relationship with the Sovereign Lord and in His qualities, gifts, promises, and attributes.
Charles Spurgeon
