Whatever You Do
Romans 11: 33-36
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
1 Corinthians 10:31
When we think of giving praise to God, we usually think of it in terms of our words: “My lips shall utter praise…” (Psalm 119:171a). Does that mean if a person is unable to speak, he or she is unable to give praise to the Lord? Not at all. The Bible suggests that our whole life should be a testimony of praise to Him.
For example, the apostle Paul was called on to clarify some issues among the Christians in Corinth: Are there rules to follow regarding what foods are acceptable for eating (1 Corinthians 10)? Is it acceptable to eat meat from the market that is leftover from pagan sacrifices? Paul went on to give guidelines about that subject and about taking other peoples’ convictions into account. He summarized by saying, “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (emphasis added). In other words, eating and drinking are just small parts of a whole life that is lived in praise to God. If our whole life is lived in praise to Him, then our eating and drinking will be as well.
Speak His praises today when you can, and live His praises at every moment of the day—whatever you do.
A point to ponder…
We should be always wearing the garment of praise, not just waving a palm branch now and then.
