Persevere
James 1: 2-8
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
James 1:4
Irving Stone studied the lives of some of the greatest and most interesting characters in history, and he wrote biographical novels about them—people like Vincent van Gogh, Michelangelo, and Abraham Lincoln. After years of research into some of the greatest men and women who ever lived, he concluded these individuals were unique because they had a vision or dream of something that should be accomplished, and then they went to work. Each of them was knocked down, vilified, and appeared to being failing, but every time they were knocked down they got up. They persevered. And at the end of their lives they accomplished a portion of what they set out to do.1
Endurance and perseverance are at the heart of character. According to Romans 5:3-4, suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.If you’re under attack right now, don’t give up. Persevere. Trust in the Lord and let Him provide the strength you need.
A point to ponder…
Endurance is steady determination to keep going. It means continuing even when everything in you wants to slow down or give up.
